Komodo Luxury Publishes its Vessel Quality Standard

Juara Holding Group has published, through its Komodo Luxury brand, a written Vessel Quality Standard: a 12-point inspection standard applied to the nine vessels the company owns and to every partner vessel before it is dispatched with guests aboard.

What Was Published

The standard sets out twelve items that must be checked and recorded before a vessel carries Komodo Luxury guests:

• date of the most recent physical inspection
• engine service record
• generator redundancy
• cleanliness of cabins and shared areas
• linen condition
• crew roster
• life jackets for the vessel’s full rated capacity
• life-raft certification
• fire suppression equipment
• air conditioning
• plumbing and sanitation
• food hygiene, together with a written emergency plan

The page also draws a distinction the company treats as material. Komodo Luxury owns and operates nine vessels: Komodo Signature (78.2 m), Komodo Prestige (66 m), Naturalia Cruise, Ayvara Cruises, Malca Voyages, Catnazse Liveaboard, Pinta Phinisi, Mosalaki Cruise and Neptune Cruise. Every other vessel it sells is a vetted partner vessel, chartered rather than owned. The same twelve points apply to both, but the ownership status of each vessel is stated rather than blurred.

Alongside the checklist, the company has published how it handles service failures that occur mid-trip, so that guests can read the process before they book instead of discovering it during a problem.

Why It Matters

Travellers booking a Komodo liveaboard are usually comparing operators from another country, months in advance, working mostly from photographs. Two things are hard to verify from a listing page: who actually operates the boat, and what happens if something breaks at sea. Writing the inspection points down publicly makes both checkable — a guest, an agent or a regulator can ask which of the twelve items were signed off on a given vessel, and on what date. It also fixes a standard the company can be measured against when it falls short.
